4 Tips on Grilling and Equipment

Grilling vegetables, peppers, squash, zucchini

  1. Medium heat works best for most fruits and vegetables. If placing fruits or vegetables directly on grill, make sure the grates are thoroughly oiled. (Related: How to Grill Fresh Fruit)
  2. Wooden skewers must be soaked before using. Completely submerge in water 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Metal skewers are more convenient; just make sure they fit on your grill so the lid can close if necessary. Double prong skewers work even better because they hold the food more securely and it can’t slide or turn around.
  4. Grill woks and baskets: While not essential to summer grilling, they are convenient for big batches of cut vegetables. Use them just as you would the indoor wok or a skillet on the stovetop, stirring foods frequently while grilling. (Related: Guide to Grilling Vegetables)
