Healthy raspberries

Ready for raspberry season? Here are a few questions and answers about these candy-sweet red berries.

Are raspberries healthy?
Raspberries are a great source of cholesterol-lowering soluble fiber and vitamin C, a disease-fighting antioxidant.

When do raspberries ripen?
Raspberries ripen mid-summer, usually in early July, though it may vary depending on where you live.

How do you pick out good raspberries?
Inspect any pre-picked batches. The bottom berries are easily crushed and tend to mold. When visiting a raspberry patch, pick the ripest berries. If you have to tug at them, they are not ready. Raspberries don’t ripen after picking like some fruits.

What can I make with raspberries?
Plenty! You can sprinkle raspberries on salads, put them in pie or cook them in cakes. Our recipes with raspberries include Raspberry Lime Tart, Watermelon and Raspberry Sorbet and Pineapple Berry Boats With Raspberry Dip, among others.
