Score Big With Super Bowl Recipes

We’ve already written one post about Game Day Recipes, but just in time for the Super Bowl we thought we’d combine a few of ours with some we’ve come across in the food blogosphere.

When I was growing up, every year my dad would host a Super Bowl party. (This was back when the big game was held in January, so it coincided with his birthday.) And every year, he made a big pot of chili. He’s from Texas, so this chili was thick, meaty, spicy ā€“ and no beans about it. Here on Farm Flavor, we have Easy Stovetop Chili and White Bean Chicken Chili, but no true Texas-style chili. This one from blogger Burnt Carrots not only has ground beef but also stew meat and spicy sausage, not to mention stout beer AND chocolate. Sounds like a winner to me.

Now, you have to have something to soak up some of the chili’s heat (hello, chipotle), and I’m one of those weirdos who doesn’t like sour cream. This cornbread with a kick will certainly do the trick. What’s more, it’s 75 percent whole grain, so you don’t have to feel too guilty enjoying this spicy cast-iron treat.

Not a cornbread fan? Instead of crushing up saltine crackers into the chili, try these tasty-looking nibbles from culinary mastermind David Leite.

Along the same line, bite-sized snack foods are perfect for parties. I don’t know why, but as you can see, Super Bowl foods for me fall into three flavor categories: Spicy, Cheesy and Ranch-y. Or any combination thereof.Ā If you agree, here are a few more noshes sure to please your party’s palates:
