Sauteed Green Beans with Garlic and Pecans

Sauteed Green Beans with Garlic and Pecans make a versatile side dish for any meal. Serve them alongside chicken, beef or fish to add a fresh pop of flavor and color to your plate.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • ½ cup pecans, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ⅛ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed and cut 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • Freshly ground black pepper, optional

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-low heat. Once hot, toast pecans, garlic and red pepper flakes for about 1 minute. Transfer mixture to a plate and set aside.
  2. Increase heat to medium-high and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the green beans and salt and saute for 5 to 8 minutes, or until beans reach desired doneness. 
  3. Add lemon juice, then turn off the heat and add pecan mixture back to the skillet.
  4. Top green beans with freshly ground pepper before serving, if desired.
