Caramel Icing
Sweet, decadent caramel icing is perfect drizzled over sour cream layer cake.


  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir occasionally until it is just brown and foamy.
  2. Stir in brown sugar and milk. Stir until it begins to bubble around the edges. Allow to cool slightly. Stir in powered sugar and salt vigorously.
  3. If icing is too thick to spread, stir in more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. Frost Sour Cream Cake quickly.
  4. If desired, pour caramel sauce over the top of the cake (store bought or homemade).

    This is actually the recipe for the caramel icing that covers the whole cake. The caramel drizzle on top of the cake is actually just caramel sauce, which can be homemade or store bought. Hope this helps!
