Ingredients
Biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons shortening
- ⅔ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup crispy bacon bits
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Strawberry Butter:
- ½ cup strawberry preserves
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup strawberries, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the shortening until the mixture forms coarse crumbles resembling small peas. Stir in buttermilk and bacon until just combined.
- Roll out dough and cut into 8 biscuits (about 2 ½ inches each). Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
- While biscuits bake, prepare the strawberry butter. In a medium bowl, combine strawberry preserves, butter and strawberries. Stir until creamy and combined.
- Serve biscuits warm with strawberry butter on top.
