Ingredients
Supplies:
- 1 liter-size glass jar with lid
- 1 gift tag (for baking instructions)
- Decorative string or ribbon
Jar Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
Additional Baking Ingredients:
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Pour mixture into the jar to create the first layer. Use your hands to pack it down a bit.
- Add chocolate chips to the jar to create second layer.
- Add brown sugar then granulated sugar to the jar to create the third and fourth layers. Use your hands to pack the layers down if needed.
- Place an airtight lid on the jar. On the gift tag, write the following instructions for the recipient: Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix together 1 stick unsalted butter (room temperature), 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add jar contents and continue mixing until dough comes together. Form into 1- to 2-tablespoon-size balls and place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are slightly browned. Let cool slightly on baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
